Getting Lip Injections
I’ve been always a great fan of Angelina Jolie and I’ve wished to have her lips since I was in my 30s. This year, I’ll turn 50 and I’m considering lip augmentation as a special gift for my birthday. As a first time around, I’m a little bit confused, though, regarding fillers. I don’t want to be disappointed and I wonder what injections are the best and what should I consider?

Dear Rosy,
Each filler can achieve different things and some in particular can help restore volume, firmness and hydration of the lips. Gone are the days when women had only collagen as an option.
In its place, a variety of dermal fillers have emerged that are based on hyaluronic acid, a substance that occurs naturally in our bodies and is highly attracted to water and binds to moisture.
However, choosing the right type which is best for your lips should be left up to your aesthetic doctor. A serious professional would spend time both studying your face and asking you questions and discussing side effects. Once agreed on the treatment, she/he will ask you to sign informed consent as well as give you the details of the product she/he uses.
Hyaluronic acid is the best lip-filler, especially for those ones who aim to achieve a natural effect in midlife. It’s an absorbable substance, which means it’s not a permanent filler, but compared to others would help you avoid fibrous and lip deformations.
Above all, remember that the cost does make a difference. Cheap lip injections are often not so good and may come with a variety of complications. I would suggest going for an internationally known product, better if added with lidocaine which makes the treatment more comfortable.
